All Future EA Games to Include Micro-Transactions

Assassin's Creed 4 Black FlagEA’s chief financial officer Blake Jorgensen had announced in front of an audience at the Morgan Stanley Technology, Media and Telecom Conference that all future EA games will incorporate micro-transactions. Yaaaaaaay.

Jorgensen stated that incorporating micro-transactions will allow their customers to enjoy paying for things to climb to a higher level quicker, believing that ‘consumers are enjoying and embracing that way of business’. We can expect the rumoured Assassin’s Creed 4 game to incorporate micro-transactions too, then.

Unless I’ve become truly disconnected from what the modern gamer enjoys and embraces these days, I’d say that EA need to do some market research as to what gamers really what instead of talking to their investors and fooling themselves into thinking that they’re knowledgeable of what the market ’embraces’.

Personally, I’d rather pay full price for a retail game and that be the end of it to feel like I own it as opposed to have to invest money into it on a long-term basis to get the most out of the game — but what are your thoughts on micro-transactions?
