Drakengard 3: New Screens, More Story Info and Official Site

Drakengard 3 dragonWith Drakengard 3 having been announced for PS3 in Famitsu earlier this week, Square-Enix have opened up the official Japanese site for the title, giving us a selection of new screens to melt over — and I do mean melt over because the original games were absolutely phenomenal.

Developed by Access Games (the guys behind Deadly Premonition) and many of Drakengard’s key staff members, the PS3-exclusive game seems to have a very different plot to the first two games:

Goddesses called ‘Utatai’ used the magical power of songs to defeat warlords that had been ruling the land in the distant past; bringing peace to the land, these Utaitai became known as Utahime (divas). With darkness once again consuming the world, the main characters of the game – the two young Utatai sisters One and Zero – seem to be the world’s only hope. Or something.

With One aiming to bring peace to the world and unite all of the Utatai, it is her older sister Zero (the dragon-riding character with an artificial arm and an ever-growing flower lodged in her right eye that you play as in the game) that is said to be the strongest of all the Utatai. She is also a skilled swordswoman, having a more violent and troublesome personality than her younger sibling.

Expected for a 2013 release, check the gallery below for screens of the slightly-strange-sounding-plot game. I’m looking forward to this more than most games this year.
