Intended to be publicly released at noon ET today, Epic Games’ new Unreal Engine 4 tech demo has leaked a tiny bit early.
Titled ‘Infiltrator’ and viewable above, it’s currently assumed only to be intended to show off the engine’s capabilities as opposed to a small teaser for a game that’s actually being developed. Although I doubt anyone would complain about a cool third-person shooter type game with a Predator-like ninja guy becoming a real game.
Used by a large portion of the industry, Unreal Engine’s are always a very good point of reference as to what that generations graphic standards will be. It looks great really, with the entire thing running in-engine on a Nvidia GTX 680, with even the mountains in the background near the end of the demo modeled pieces (whereas in most current-gen games they’d be painted). It’s a reasonably good sign of things to come for the upcoming generation of gaming — unless you’re a Wii U gamer, as Epic Games today confirmed that the engine won’t be coming to the console.
