After 30 Years of Iconic Games, Disney Shuts Down LucasArts

LucasArtsAfter having bought out Lucasfilm and all of their IPs last year, Disney have decided to shut down film studio’s game development division LucasArts.

Responsible for classic Star Wars and Indiana Jones games, Maniac Mansion, Day of the Tentacle, Sam & Max and the Monkey Island series (which is safe by the way as Disney bought its IP a while back), the studio has been shut down to cut costs, instead opting to license out franchises to outsider developers.

Unfortunately, this means that The Force Unleashed’s developer’s current projects — including the promising looking Star Wars 1313 — have been halted. It’s always a sad day when we see an iconic developer close, especially when it’s one as iconic as this.
