Bethesda recently announced Wolfenstein: The New Order, with a fantastic (albeit pre-rendered) trailer featuring steampunk machines, burning landmarks, rain, and a suitably gravelly voiceover.
Set in Europe in 1960, after the Nazis won World War II, players will once again control the hero of previous Wolfenstein games B.J. Blazkowicz, and be tasked with coordinating an “impossible counter-offensive” against the tyrannical Nazi regime.
Gamespot reported that “The New Order will have players infiltrating Nazi strongholds and battling legions of enemies, while taking control of “super weapons” that the Nazis have used to dominate earth – and beyond.”
Published by Bethesda, The New Order is being developed by MachineGames, a subsidiary of Zenimax, Bethesda’s parent company. Due to arrive on Xbox, PS3 and PC late 2013, hopefully The New Order will provide a more solid FPS experience than 2009’s Wolfenstein, which received fairly average reviews and poor sales upon release.
