I’ve said it before and I’ll say it again: Aaru’s Awakening honestly looks like it’s set to be my new favourite game ever.
Aaru’s Awakening is a beautiful upcoming 2D hand-drawn platformer in development by Lumenox Games and, as this new trailer brilliantly displays, even in its current alpha stage it looks stunning. A playable demo of the game was available for download last month, but the game has apparently changed so much since that it’s been removed as not to negatively impact anyone’s impressions of the game.
The new trailer, titled ‘Domain of Day’, makes an effort to emphasis the game’s teleportation and charging mechanics, whilst showing off more of the game’s gorgeous hand-drawn backgrounds. Heck, even that narration and music at the opening of the trailer sent shivers of excitement down my spine.
The game is planned for a Windows, Mac and possibly Linux release in Q4 of this year, and although I’d highly recommend you vote for the game on Steam Greenlight, I can’t help feeling that this game would sit perfectly well on a console platform like PSN/XBLA.
